From Mayor Pamela Hoots: The City of Columbia reminds everyone that the month of July is full of activities for the community.
This weekend is Independence Day weekend. On July 3rd, there will be Columbia Nights around the square. On July 4th, we will have a car show with music and food trucks in front of Columbia Priceless on Jamestown Street. Fireworks, which are a collaboration between the City of Columbia and the Adair County Fiscal Court, will be on the grounds of the Joe Johnson Little League Park at dusk. You are urged to park in a location on Jamestown Street (similar to the parade) to watch. The Adair County Fair will be having Independence on the Grounds at their location on Industrial Park Drive with games and activities for adults and children.
July 9, 10, and 11 are Summer Days. On July 9, Deez Spudz will be in the parking lot across from City Hall and on the 10th, we will have Wicked Weiners, Electric Apricot, Brothers Barbeque, and Luxe Lemon. On Saturday, July 11, will be the Columbia Cruise In with a special celebration for the 250th anniversary of the United States. The City of Columbia urges everyone while in the local downtown area (and, around) to shop local and visit the shops.
The Farmers Market continues on Saturdays and will start their Wednesdays from 8 am until 1 pm this Wednesday, July 1.
On Thursday, July 16, will be the 7th annual Paint The Town. If your business, group, church, or individual would like to chalk paint, contact City Hall. The hours will be 4 pm until 7 pm and the square will be closed to traffic.
On Wednesday, July 29, is the 4th annual Back To School Bash and will be held at the City Park on Fairground Street. If you would like to sponsor or set up a booth, contact City Hall.
Mayor Hoots and all of us at the City encourage you to participate in any or all of the activities.
