Representative Neighbors Speaks On Panel At Kentucky Primary Care Association Annual Conference

Lexington, Kentucky (October 22, 2024) – Representative Amy Neighbors, of the Kentucky House of Representative’s 21st District, participated in a panel at the Kentucky Primary Care Association Annual Conference on October 8, 2024.

KPCA is a non-profit organization focused on expanding access to primary healthcare services statewide. KPCA works with legislators, regulatory bodies, and healthcare policy organizations to strengthen the healthcare system in Kentucky. The annual conference brings together members from across the Commonwealth and neighboring states to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and discuss current challenges within the healthcare system.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion alongside fellow legislators at the Kentucky Primary Care Association’s Annual Conference,” said Representative Neighbors. “Kentucky’s healthcare system is facing several major challenges that I have seen firsthand while working in the industry, and it’s crucial that we engage in open conversations and meaningful discourse to explore solutions together.”

Among the panel’s topics of discussion were the state’s income tax, Medicare and Medicaid spending, prior authorization, and prescription drug costs. Representative Neighbors spoke on 2024 House Bill 220 that she sponsored which aims to regulate step therapy protocols. HB 220 also reduces prescription drug costs by promoting lower-cost alternatives, such as generic drugs, before requiring more expensive options.

“I’m truly honored to be a part of these important conversations. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe that with a shared vision and thoughtful collaboration, we can make meaningful strides,” added Representative Neighbors. “Together, we can strengthen our system and ensure that folks across Kentucky can receive the healthcare they need.”
